After Niagara Fall We drove to Toronto. We spent like an hour in traffic but it did not bother us at all, we were so happy talking about so many things. We do talk a lot, and we love it.
It was easy to find our hotel then we found a very cheap parking lot near us, too. That was very sweet. Because we only had to walk two blocks with our luggage.
After the check-in. I changed and we went out to explore Toronto. James was in Toronto before so he knew pretty well his way. Me, I was in my first big modern city. Europe is the old continent and South america is not so modern but it is starting. Lima is getting there.
So many high buildings. We walked around trying to find a restaurant to eat. We ended up eating Italian. The food was very good but the service was so bad. The waiters were gay Italians that never came to our table and also moved us from one place to another without asking us.
Dinner was over and we were ready to walk. I do know how could I managed walking in high heels but I did. We went to Dundas square.
In this place I really felt for first time how it is to be in a big modern city. All the lights, big screen, colours and music from street performance.
There is a very cool fountain there. We took some pictures there, enjoy the moment, made jokes about each other. We walked to the old Toronto City Hall and took a picture of the CN Tower at night.
After that, I was tired and I was not going to be able to go back walking in high heels to our hotel. So We took a taxi. It was a really nice night. So far I started to love Toronto just by being one night there.
The next morning we went to explore Toronto. Mi Amorcito (my sweet love in Spanish) knows really well the city. He was my tourist guide. I am impressed every time he starts telling me stories. He is so smart. I love him ![]()
Suddenly it started raining.... Plop... we really need to get an umbrella. It was lunch time and I felt like eating fish and chips. We were looking for a restaurant and we found this boat... that is a restaurant at the same time from a man whose name is Captain John. The food was really good and cheap. The sad thing is that we could notice that their business was going down. We no waiters and he and his wife did everything. They are old so the service was slow and they could not clean up and make the bills in a fast way. So they asked every customer to wait. Sometimes customers were waiting to get a table for 20 minutes so they left. It is a nice play to eat so we totally recommend it.
When we went out of the restaurant, it was still raining a little bit. Then it cleared up and after walking more around Toronto. We decided to go to the islands.
We took the ferry from Toronto waterfront which is around CAN $6 to go and back. The trip is 15 minutes. Once we were there, we decided to do something that neither mi amorcito nor me have not done before. We got a tandem bike and biked 7 kilometres in 30 minutes. Now we want to get one. It was really fun.
We had to return the bike and we went for a walk around it. We took more pictures and close to the lake I was posing for another pictures when I was chased for a goose... Mi amorcito was right when he told me that they were evil. That goose was going for me and I was gong to be its dinner that day.
A few more pictures with the skydive Toronto and the CN tower behind us and we took the ferry back.
Again in the city we visted Casa Loma, a revival house in the suburbs of Toronto.
Mi amorcito and me agreed to go to the Peruvian restaurant in Toronto, it is close to Casa Loma. I did not know that it was going to be a good restaurant and I was not sure about the taste of the food. So I told him just to have a drink and eat something small.
I made him tried Anticuchos, which is a kind of bbq of the cow's heart. His face was not very pleased at the beginning but after he tried; he liked it. Actually they tasted really good and after a couple of Pisco Sour and Maracuya sour. I told him that probably we could eat there. He was happy to know that I changed my mind because he loves and wants to know everything about my culture.
It was a supper nice dinner, I was enjoying a lot my birthday weekend. It has never been like that before. The whole weekend was for me and it was focused on me. I loved it. Definitely the best birthday ever!
We arrived to the hotel and we changed and went for a drink... in a couple of hours was going to be my birthday. and it was Victoria's day in Canada.
We cheered with Canadian club. So far my favourite whisky now. (Sorry Mr. Walker) It was raining again and I did not have a coat. We walked to the hotel and celebrate with wine there. Very romantic.. I loved it... I loved it... and every time I remembered that weekend It makes me smile. I have a huge smile now ![]()
The next morning I got more birthday presents, including a sand dollar from New Brunswick. They are very difficult to find and are very special. It made me feel special. And a big happy birthday banner was on the bed when I went out of the bathroom. TOTALLY SURPRISED. I felt for the first time in my life the happiest girl in the world.
We went to send some post cards and had breakfast at Tim Hortons, a very famous Canadian coffee shop. After breakfast I took my last photo with my Canadian flags, Tim Hortons tea and a Tim Horton's truck.... VERY CANADIAN!!!
To be honest, I did not wanted to come back to Windsor. We sang the Beatles on the way back... and we saw a rainbow... perfect ending for a perfect birthday weekend.
